Weekly Round Up 22 Oct 2022

Updated: Jul 6, 2023

Firstly, welcome back everyone, it's been a long winter and we are hanging out for some sunshine, hopefully if this weekend is anything to go by, we could be in for a bumper summer.

We will try and keep these coming out every week with updates and stories from around the grounds along with what’s going on at the club.

The season started for 4 of our teams this week Seniors, Reserves, Thirds and new team Little Masters playing in Div 7. The Seniors started off with 2 T20 on Saturday, first one was Vs Hutt on Fraser Park. This was the first time the boys had been together on the field, was some promising things from this young side with Robbie Fulbrook and Fin McQueen bowling some heat. NOBCC 120/5 R.Jackson 40 A.Webster 36 HUTT 122/2.

Next game was against newly relegated Onslow. Boys came out firing and rolled Onslow for 63. It was chased down with ease, Ryan backing up the first game with a gritty 14 off 44 balls good strike rate for T20. NOBCC 67/2 Onlsow CC 63/10 C. Hargraves 3 for R. Jackson 3 for Next week they take on North City CC @10:30am and Johnsonville @ 2:30pm both at Fraser Park.

Next our Reserves headed out to Ben Burn Park, possibly one of the smallest grounds in Wellington, this team was purely rig based with some saying this team could suit up for the Randwick Kingfishers. It was only fitting that they would score 420!!!! Logan Mckinder picking up the first 100 in the club, followed by Sterlo with 88 and new lad The Chad with 74. The boys putting on 143 in the last 13 overs to set them up for a mammoth score. Karori was never in it, being knocked over for 188. Everyone chipping in with wickets. NOBCC 420/7 L.McKinder 117 M.Stirling 88 C.Coley 74 Karori 188/10, S.Patel 2/35, R.Janes 3/46. Boys suit up next week vs Vic Uni @ Miramar Park.

The only team that was home this weekend was our Thirds, they took on Northern Park on 3A. Lads got off to a slow start but at 165/7 with 5 overs to go the boys swung the willow and got up to 210/7. Northern Park was coasting at 130/1 but completely sh*t the bed and were all out for 188. Maren picking up the last wicket with a run out.

Last game was our newest team Little Masters, this is a newly formed team with a lot of unknowns, it was a trial by fire and not really getting out of the blocks all out for 110 in the 30th Over, Jville chased it down in the 25th. Really looking forward to seeing the boys around the club and introduce yourself if you see them around. Welcome.

Lastly a few things going on around the club:

- We have a few new teams around the club Little Master (Div 7) & Mavericks (Intercity 1 Day) - We have a few projects going at the moment, some of you may have seen the outdoor net run up being torn up, this has been in the planning for a while and should be ready to go in the coming weeks (suppliers pending) and Block - If you have any spare time and can help around the club, be it on the bar, running events or getting a spade and paint brush out we would love to hear from you.
